FYI - This picture is NOT Al. This was made by a real human. The fact that liberals couldn't tell this was real shows you how brainwashed they are. Despite how good (or bad) the picture is, they’ll hate on it just because it’s AI. There’s no objectivity, just pure jealousy and insecurity. They can’t stand the fact that a computer can make art just as good as humans can. I guarantee this would've got 100+ upvotes if I said a real artist made this.

Hello OP. I made this comment in another post, but I’ll do it here, too. AI images do not qualify as art because, although they do have the form of art, they do not have the content of art. What I mean by this is, AI images lack the meaning and intent that human art has. Since the algorithm cannot think, it is fundamentally incapable of giving content to its output. It’s missing half of what the “art” it produces should have.

This leads me to this statement: if you sat a human down & they created a drawing, and then you got an AI model to generate an image, and they just so happened to be the exact same image, the human’s work would be art and the AI’s output would not. This is because the human had intent, purpose, & ideas behind the drawing, whereas the AI just happened to predict it from its dataset. The two pieces share the exact same form, but one is completely devoid of content. That’s why AI will never be art.

Hello 5. AI is a tool which is used to convey art. It’s no different from using your iPad to draw, using a camera to take pictures, or even using a crayon to draw on a piece of paper. Maybe it’s EASIER to use AI, but it’s only as good as the person using it. Writing the right prompts to express your creativity takes a ton of time and skill. I won’t be able to create art as good as an AI artist that has been doing it constantly over the last few years.

Hello again OP. I encounter this argument a lot, and though it makes sense on the surface, I think it misses the mark a little. Let’s do another thought experiment. Say that there’s a room with two slots. On the inside of the room is a person with art supplies. You write a request for an image on a piece of paper and slide it into the slot on the left. After a while, a painting comes out of the slot on the right. Did you create the painting, or was it the person inside the room?

Let me just say that there are several issues with this experiment. One of them is that it implies that AI has the agency to make decisions, even though it does not. However, the basic structure of prompt > output is the same.

Another way to think of this is in the context of school. A teacher assigns his students a prompt for an essay. The students write the essay according to the prompt and turn it in. Did the teacher write the essays, or did the children?

Hi again 5. Sorry for the late response. This isn’t the same thing. Like you said, AI is not sentient. It’s not a real being, it’s just a tool. So this doesn’t apply here. If I were to request another person to prompt for me, then sure. I didn’t do the work. Since AI is just a tool and is only as good as the prompter, it is still you that’s doing the work. For example, a camera does all the work in capturing the image. All you do is press a button and boom you get the image.
