(1/?) This project is set in Miami so the most established factions are 1. The Second Miami Council of Elders, an alliance of thirteen elder vampires who rule the Miami area without contest and hold a lot of sway over Florida at large. Established 1917, they are currently in a cold war with a cell of vampire hunters embedded in the FBI. 2. The Fourth Estate is basically the Western European vampire government. They maintain a diplomatic/commercial presence in Miami with the Council’s consent.

(2/?) 3. Elder Claire Tandle is a sitting member of the Chicago Council who has been establishing sleeper thralls in Miami for the past three years. She recently sent several members of her brood to activate them and begin an attempted takeover of the city, including Charles Wayde (one of my protags). 4. The Order of Our Lady Jael is a loose association of Catholic occultists and monster hunters. They have at least two members embedded in the Archdiocese of Miami.

AfterGlow Laboratories, LLC is a (largely) Florida-based shell company of the Atlantic Nations business conglomerate, which is a human faction involved in supernatural research for commercial purposes. They haven’t captured a homo mortis for study yet, but the regenerative powers they’ve seen are more than worth continuing to try.

It started as Vampire the Masquerade fanfic but I decided several months ago to divorce it from that setting because it didn’t match the vibes I had in mind anymore. Now it’s a part of the same universe as several of my other short stories (following state and federal police encounters with the supernatural), which is where AfterGlow Labs and the Order of Our Lady Jael come from
