Using broad scope terms is stupid when dealing in the individual case. Spend time with lots of people and if a selection of people like have similar attributes in terms of those terms you can say they aren’t that bad in that regard. From my experience in college I’ve seen crazy people from either angle, but the few I know individually who are able to understand anyone have all been self-identifying conservatives.
Your belief system and internal morals aren’t that important to you when you are speaking only in hypotheticals. Republicans vote for policy that doesn’t affect them. Liberals vote for policy out of survival for friends and family. The stakes are different. Republicans lose literally nothing when Democrats win elections. They have no risk.
Every person who cheers Trump on is a Trump supporter. Block this dude and watch what else disappears from your feed. Trump supporters love to cosplay as rational conservatives because their actual beliefs are indefensible. No pretending required—just 10 seconds of basic technology.
PLEASE don’t take this as me defending conservatism, but this is why I asked #6 if they were socially conservative or economically conservative. I think it’s a valuable distinction to make. I can atleast comprehend why someone would be economically conservative, unlike socially conservative. I don’t like either, though.
