man even Machiavelli said that a good Prince should be fair to his subjects, and instill adoration over fear wherever possible, and “Machiavellian” is literally a synonym for evil these days lmao
Fairness is a weapon invented by the weak to restrain the strong. The man who clings to rules while others conspire against him is not noble, he’s prey.

I m think people who say Machiavellian is evil actually has read the Prince or studied history. It’s a case of times are very bad and you need to take drastic action during this time. Here’s how to do it properly

Machiavelli was a great teacher. More people should apply his theories and thoughts to the political situations we find ourselves in circa. 2016 - present.

I agree with this to a degree but I do think Machiavellianism has less to do with the political theory and more to do with people who act as if they took the political lessons of Machiavelli and applied them to the personal. People treating their personal relations like subjects of a Machiavellian Prince and whatnot

Machiavelli knew a lot about the human condition and how people behave despite objective realities and/or facts. That is useful every day life, especially nowadays. You do not have to be a ruler or a governing politician to derive value from understanding his works.
