Why do republicans genuinely not give a shit about the earth/environment? Like seriously they’re the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” small government ppl but actually do not give a fuck about the Grand Canyon being destroyed for mining. Like why?

Bc historically it was a tongue in cheek remark since it’s physically impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. Most republicans and boomers are too stupid to realize that, and the wealthy are taunting the rest of us.

Just raping the land for all its worth and watching it die with no concern for their children’s children

Yeah they go hunting and fishing they enjoy nature like that but then the moment climate change is brought up or someone says we shouldn’t be fracking the vast majority of them lose their minds. Plus for as much as they love the recreational sport of hunting and fishing most are either completely aware of or indifferent to the loss of biodiversity on earth.

Good for them then. They're a minority though. Plus republicans have been anti environmentalism even before trump

Modern day hunting is necessary to keep the balance of the environment in check, and the licenses for both is what funds state fish and wildlife agencies. More people need to get into it tbh the participation is dying out

Not shitting on ethical hunting but let’s not act like most republicans aren’t hunting because they want to have a trophy to feel strong and powerful. Most republicans do not actually care about subsistence or doing it to protect the environment. Nonetheless it doesn’t change that we’re literally living through a period of major losses to biodiversity to the point we’re teetering towards living through a mass extinction that’s not because of ethical hunting it’s because of human impacts on 1/2

The environment which goes right back to the climate change issue.

Have you been around hunters? The ones around here all have freezers full and are vocal in protecting the forests in the area. It’s a shame that hunting/fishing tends to skew right tbh, its so much better for the environment than factory farms and the monoculture of corn that’s grown to feed them

I’m not speaking about ur area idk ur area and the ppl u know. If that’s the case where u are then that’s awesome u are lucky that u know republicans who aren’t as completely bat shit as the vast majority that vote with Donald Trump and have no problem with fracking and think that climate change either isn’t real or can’t be impacted by humans. I agree though that factory farms have been pretty shit environmentally.
