do you not understand that that is something that is still occurring in academia today? There’s also sexism racism and classism, those are three conservative barriers to science that predate religion as a concept that have existed throughout history.

If you had half a brain you’d understand that religion directly supports and upholds class oppression, racism, and sexism, as part of the superstructure, it is a tool of reaction. The fact these issues persist is hugely thanks to religions role in reaction.

That was in the past. But what matters is what’s happening in the present, and right now, religion usually causes more problems for science than it helps. Plus, science doesn’t need religion in order to grow, so why bother with religion?

Reactionary is predominantly used by leftists and Marxists to describe reaction (opposition) to the progress of historical materialism. An atheist or Marxist wouldn’t be “reactionary” unless they were in reaction to progress. What do you mean when “communists” and “atheists” are “reactionary”. In reaction to what?

Ok then by its basic level what are they reactionary towards? Politically that term is explicitly connected with the left wing and those against the reaction to scientific progress, so using it in a political discussion against left wing and atheist types doesn’t quite make sense lol
