I’m usually not a fan of mandatory minimums but 5 years feels way too low

I also know it’s clearly an intentional choice on the media outlet’s part. I work for a local news station in my city and mugshots are easily accessible, no records request necessary. Our rule is that if we don’t have a mugshot and the suspect is alive, we simply have to wait until one is available. Usually dead suspects have prior mugshots, too. In short, there’s no excuse for that.
