He’s gonna try to claim self-defense in court because the guy he shot punched him, but that’s not gonna work considering the hours and hours of footage he’s willingly put on the internet of him actively trying to start fights with people lmao
Lmao this dumbass would harass black people and use racial slurs to incite reactions for views. ended up shooting himself when he shot a black man. who’s chimping out now?

also pulling out a gun is excessive force. if the guy was also armed it would’ve been different

He also tweeted something about how he was waiting for someone to take a swing at him and he was hoping he could use that as a chance to kill a black person. I have a hard time seeing anyone in the legal system giving him even an ounce of leeway

That’s a very complicated issue in Tennessee since it’s a stand your ground state. The hundreds of hours of footage of him trying to provoke people into this exact situation is what’s really gonna break his case.

In a duty to retreat state like NY it probably would be but like cheese said Tennessee is stand your ground so there’s a lot of latitude on what force is legally able to be applied if you’re not deemed the aggressor

Not when the guy’s publicly stated repeatedly that he was intentionally trying to provoke someone to swing at him so he could shoot them. That’s the part that invalidates his self-defense claim. He’d probably get off if he hadn’t straight up declared his intent to go looking for trouble so he’d have an excuse to do exactly what he did.

The angle the prosecution is gonna go for is gonna be “This guy racially harassed random people for weeks with the intention of getting one of them to hit him so he could shoot them, declared that as his intention, and therefore lacks a valid claim to self-defense.” Tennessee law is very lenient about what is and is not self-defense, but even the most lenient self-defense laws exclude people who intentionally put themselves in that situation in the first place.
