The book “it’s perfectly normal” entirely saved me from being an incel. If I hadn’t been given that book at a young age, my perspective on the human body would be dramatically and aggressively warped. It’s on the banned book list, because it’s a book for young children about sexuality and sex as a concept, and it’s extremely thorough. Including showing cartoonish drawn images of men and women of essentially all possible body types naked, and describing homosexuality and transness as being normal and acceptable.
Understanding what sex was from a young age prevented me from getting molested on multiple occasions, and seeing depictions of nudity in all different races, sexes, and body types outside of the context of porn really helped me avoid the mental traps that pornography creates for people.
I think it really wouldn’t be holding people back if their first introduction to the ideas of sex and nudity were from it’s perfectly normal instead of porn tho. Like, the best way I can describe it was like an inoculation. It taught me literally all the important shit in a super healthy way, so when I did encounter porn through the internet I already understood what I was seeing and how is was different from reality.
