I’ve seen so many posts where it’s like “the elites didn’t teach us this in school” and I’m like huh I learned that. Maybe you weren’t paying attention? (One example was about the Cherokee having slaves)
And even if they had, (like mine did) half these morons wouldn’t have paid attention just like they didn’t pay attention to anything else in school

Sometimes it’s also just that the public school system doesn’t teach you absolutely everything that happened in history and that’s not malicious

history in public schools is geared toward creating informed citizens. sometimes things can be valuable and important, but still fall outside the scope of an overall narrative that students are required to understand. there's not enough time to address contradictions and exceptions until college unfortunately.

It’s not about teaching absolutely everything but it is about what information you do end up picking, and how that information is taught

I definitely think some things are important and should be taught while they are not. But it’s also the case that some stuff just won’t make the cut depending on where you live. Like I’d understand if Alaska didn’t talk much about how the Cherokee had slaves, but Oklahoma absolutely should.
