Breaking News: The I-love-the-US-and-Hate-Muslims Post wrote an article that Muslim country bad and West good!!! You see how that sounds? I’m from the UK and I’m asking a genuine question about news agencies. AFAIK CNN and FOX are for profit news agencies designed to catch attention and ratings and FOX is so fucked they call themselves an entertainment channel these days.

Except CNN and Fox are private companies not funded by the US government and frequently criticize it. Whether it’s designed for clicks or not doesn’t change that it’s not literal state sponsored propaganda

A quick google search told me Al Jazeera is funded by the Qatari government and, while they are notorious for painting the royal family in a better lighting than they deserve, they are renowned for exceptional global coverage in places American agencies wouldn’t even bother with and high journalistic standards. I personally watch CNN BBC and Al Jazeera and form my own opinions because my brain isn’t so stupid to negate bias but I still need to read the news no?

the questioning isn’t really is Al Jazeera better or worse than X network. The question is which of these is without bias. Al Jazeera is biased towards the Qatari royal family and government, true. State propaganda? Probably true. Fox News also posts similar. In 2023, emails were leaked that they knew the election fraud they were reporting was false but they continued to report so because they feared losing ratings and support of the Republican Party. Who is better who is worse?

I can kind of understand being off put by state funded programs but that does not negate the fact that Al Jazeera has excellent coverage of matters outside of Qatar.

They don’t. They’ve been banned or accused of pushing an agenda in Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and more. They are state sponsored propaganda that changes how they report in Arabic vs English and peddles the interests of the Qatari royal family. None of this is remotely comparable to a private news company pushing for clicks
