And that has to do with how they look? Also 1) it is the men’s responsibility to look after the women, so if she is unmarried it is the brother’s responsibility to take care of her every need if the father passes away. 2) read the verse before, it’s talking about the rules of sexual intercourse in Islam (such as not having intercourse during menstruation) this is a continuation of that statement.

The words here for being deficient are used the same way as they are used in the Quran, which is to mean a reduction in their legal and religious responsibilities, and not being actually low IQ or bad Muslims. There are multiple versions of this that are slightly different but the inherent meaning is not to demean women

Sahih al-Bukhari 2542 describes Muslim soldiers capturing women during that same campaign and asking Muhammad about having sexual relations with the captives while practicing withdrawal. His answer did not prohibit the relations; instead, he addressed whether withdrawal would prevent conception.

2541 is in the context of a tribe (the banu mustaliq) who had put many assassination attempts on Muhammad, it was a legitimate wartime strategy of the time (1400 years ago btw) to take the remaining noncombatants as prisoners. 2542 is debated as being authentic or not, as it goes directly against the Quran specifically 24:33 (also tells you that if they want to be freed you should free them from servitude)

Yeah it’s almost as if like any other religion or group of people it’ll have good people and bad people as part of it, and shouldn’t be characterized by the bad apples who act out and get media attention. Imagine if all of Christianity was represented by the KKK or apartheid South Africa
