I don't support the Republic and Darth Vader, but that doesn't mean I support the rebels!
I don’t support Israel, but that doesn’t mean I support Hamas

Idk if Hamas is the same thing as the rebel alliance in Star Wars tbh

The rebel alliance was a direct allegory for the Viet Cong btw, so not that far off at all lmao.

If so then it’s a very very sanitized allegory

The rebel alliance in Star Wars ostracized and even fought with splinter factions like Saw Gerrera’s that attacked civilians. They were considered extremists and not counted among their numbers

When Hamas attacks civilians, it is largely collateral damage and not purposeful. Even Oct 7th: that music festival was relocated days prior and the attack was planned on that area for much longer than that. Additionally it was shown that Israel knew about the attack and allowed it to happen anyway, either consciously or through sheer incompetence.

Holy shit I just realized Saw Gerrera’s name is based on Che Guevara 😭

If saw gerrera was real y'all would call him a terrorist

Even the rebels in Star Wars called him a terrorist.

He was a rebel

And they cut him off after he blew up a festival for an assassination, so he formed his own group called the Partisans

I think we're saying the same thing. He was a terrorist but also a rebel even though his rebel cell was largely independent of the rebel alliance

Terrorist is a meaningless word because it is applied to everyone and their dog who the government doesn't like. Goes for fiction and reality
