Buddy we turn to capitalism because it allows people to earn something in life, to have free will, and be an individual. I do think socialist policies can be very good but there is a strict limit

I hate to see that you have also fallen for the propaganda. I believe you will find you will be worse off under communism no matter how bad you perceive your life is rn

The only reason and I mean only reason people see any alternative other than capitalism as “evil communism” is because we’ve all been indoctrinated into the system since birth. There is no greater lack of choice than what is presented to us the second we’re born in this country

Capitalism is not indoctrinating anyone. It is not exploiting people, people exploit people. Thats why we need regulation to protect against the greedy people.

I'm not communist but I'm sure as hell not a capitalist. The only propaganda being pushed is by people justifying a system where Elon musk can be a trillionaire and buy elections while millions can't afford rent and food.

Some communist or formerly communist states have shown strong social indicators. For example, Cuba has been noted for good health and education outcomes

“Good health and education” this has got to be a joke 89% of the country lives in poverty

It’s not lol. Those things were noted from a communist system before they kinda switched over. You’re being dense if you think any economic system will flourish in every way possible. Capitalism largely can’t even keep its citizens alive without creating a codependency on companies for debt.

But at least capitalism has a way to keep people alive unlike communism

One of the things I mentioned was the capacity for good health when Cuba underwent a communist style government. Let me get this straight, you don’t like that communism has some major flaws but when I point out the same number of flaws with capitalism, you dismiss and defend it? “at least” At least what, I can make an argument for anything if I just ignore the bad things about my position as well.

I have literally said socialist policies can be good and will have good impact but you ignored that. I don’t claim all aspects of capitalism are perfect but they are better than the other option…

socialism and communism are two different things. I guess it depends on what you value, more economic, success, or the lives of real people

Well I wouldn’t ask you to do that. I’m politely asking for us to stop acting like communism is good. Communism is bad, there is no true argument for it being good. Just because capitalism is flawed doesn’t mean communism is good

But communism is good. I don’t know why you’re against it. I like the idea of working towards a global stateless and classless society where everyone’s needs are met

Well there never has been a communist society, all communist countries [countries with communist governments] have never really gotten past socialism due to the material reality on the ground, especially due to sanctions from the global capitalist system

Capitalism does a better job for the majority of the population than communism ever has

Anonymous replying to -> OP 4w

Are you sure about that? I don’t think it’s working very well for anyone who isn’t a capitalist (someone who owns the means of production.) especially if you live outside the USA or Europe

You can’t just say every time your ideology has manifested in practice isn’t your ideology because it failed. Eventually you have to accept the ideology is what has happened in reality or that it is so bad that it can’t even manifest. And ofc the capitalists are going to oppose it because a key part of communism is spreading it, making everyone everywhere communist so you can all be part of a single system

The majority of real capitalism is in North America and Europe tho

Anonymous replying to -> OP 4w

I don’t know man, it hasn’t failed in China or Vietnam, and it didn’t fail in the USSR when it came to building a modern society from the scrap heap of one of europe’s most backwards states. Usually if it fails it’s because of concentrated pressure campaigns/external reasons/things that can be mitigated

Suggesting that capitalists interfering in communist affairs for sabotage reasons is a dumb argument, that’s like arguing the transition to Republican government in the 19th century from absolutism is dumb because the monarchs and aristocracy would try to sabotage it

The capitalist powers in the USA and Europe use the economic system to drain the global south of resources. The gains even of social democracies like in Scandinavia and Nederland are built on unequal exchange where people in the rest of the world have resources stolen.

That’s generally untrue. People within the US suffer because there’s economic success that largely benefits a singular group
