Worth noting that if he’s actually talking about a Health Savings Account (HSA) and not a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can only have an HSA if you have a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). That means you’re paying for your healthcare in full by yourself until you pay a certain amount. Works best for younger people or people who don’t expect to see the doctor much

and notably he’s talking about HSA without a deductible or out of pocket maximum! Meaning pay in full no matter what. Which is basically just not having health insurance, except maybe with some tax exempt funds

Oh and you can only have an FSA through your employer. It’s bizarre that you either need to have a (relatively) shitty healthcare plan or be employed (not self-employed, afaik) in order to have tax-free savings for healthcare
