Electing democratic socialists will, if anything, hold capitalism more responsible and moderate it. I don’t see america ever not being capitalist

Unchecked free market capitalism is dangerous for lower and middle classes because it assumes the upper class will provide whats needed to the classes below, thats not happening and thus we are in this situation. We need to put checks on things and moderate our economy. Right now its so skewed.

I agree that electing democratic socialists is the way forward. However, let’s also be realistic about the capabilities of capitalism. Our current economic system is broken at a fundamental level and cannot be reformed. The power structures it induces will always lead to poverty and inequality. In addition, its internal contradictions (ex: between production and demand, manifesting as overproduction & TRPF) will lead to repeated, unavoidable crises. The only long-term solution is a new system

I think its too far fetched to say that America will switch to another economic system anytime soon. like democratic socialism. It would take way too many pieces to fall into place all at once and I don’t see the realistically happening within even 10 years. for example, one issue is education. With college being so expensive people don’t know what they dont know and assume democratic socialism=communism because thats what theyre being told by the leaders they trust and align with right now.

In my opinion too radical to say we can do a complete 180° and switch to a new system completely. Especially in a country that has been capitalist, and has a history of being ideologically against communism and extreme forms of socialism. The cold war era looms heavily even still.

I agree with your analysis. This is why I say democratic socialists are the way forward. The people of this country need to realize that they are a class and to recognize the bourgeoisie as their true opponents. That is to say that elections like these are a means to class consciousness. However, it is important to recognize that elections and reforms do not solve the underlying issues of the system. They are means, not ends
