American Women as a whole should go on a sex strike. Men talk about us disgustingly, vote overwhelmingly to take our rights, kill us, beat us, and rape us. I think restrict all men’s access to sex would really cause them to rethink their lives.

Yeah… this isn’t gonna happen. Sex should not be weaponized by either of the sexes. It’s a normal, natural human desire to want sex. If anything, intentionally withholding it will exacerbate the aforementioned issues that you’ve observed in the status quo:

I think sex strikes are a funny concept, love seeing dudes get mad when the concept is floated and laughing, and I also think they’re fundamentally unrealistic to call for. Women like sex and intimacy too. The whole “we should go on sex strike” call also lowkey plays into that old patriarchal notion that sex is to be enjoyed by men, and merely tolerated by women.

sex is weaponized. DV and SA are disproportionately committed by men against women. there also is not fixed human nature, if there was, asexual people would not exist. biological essentialists are dorks because they ignore biology and project human social constructs over it

Men desire sex as sexual success is a status symbol to them. It’d suck to not have sex, but a rose toy does the job better than 99% of men. I don’t see how things would get worse

You can say that it is, and I’m saying it shouldn’t be. There are numerous things that can be experienced in the status quo that aren’t ideal nor desirable. The OP says that they don’t see how it could get worse, but I definitely can see how it might.

In what ways could it get worse that wouldn’t be negated if more women owned guns

I like how we went from a sex strike to just open threats of violence lmao

women owning guns is an open threat of violence?

The OP is implying that men should be threatened at gunpoint or with the threat of lethal force. I don’t think that benefits anyone.

So if men start raping more because of a sex strike and women start shooting people trying to rape them, women are in the wrong?

Yes, actually. There’s a reason why the judicial system doesn’t allow for people to enact revenge killings against convicts. Because doing so would, in itself, be a crime. We shouldn’t be encouraging criminality regardless of what sex a person is.

The situation OP described there wouldn’t be a revenge killing, it would be self-defense. It is perfectly legal to kill someone who is actively attempting to rape you or someone else. Not to mention, good riddance to bad rubbish.

I enjoy sex. The thing is I don’t enjoy it enough to overlook the people that I would like to have it with don’t view me as a human being

Are you really gonna make me sit here and “not all men” post? Because frankly, that’s a “having standards” issue. I’m not saying women aren’t gonna be selective. Maybe even highly so. But they’re not gonna go fully celibate. There are and will continue to be men who view women as human beings out there, and they will continue to get laid. Healthy heterosexual relationships do in fact exist. Mass sex strike is never gonna happen.

And if you’re gonna hit me with “well all men have internalized misogyny” then yeah, you’re right. And so do all women. Everyone raised in patriarchy’s got that shit. Not everyone externalizes that tendency. Which is where I think most straight women would draw their line. Everyone raised in patriarchy has internalized misogyny, the question is whether they embrace that attitude or reflect on it and try to combat it in themselves.

I’m not taking about internalized misogyny Look at the way men voted in the last election.

Again, that’s a standards issue. “No Trump supporters” is a pretty common standard these days for women to have, from what I hear. I wouldn’t know, I’m in a relationship so I don’t know what the single girlies are up to fr but I’ve heard Republican men bitching about women not wanting to date them specifically because of their godawful politics for a WHILE.
