I was inclined to believe the shooting at the WH correspondents’ dinner was real at first but the more I hear about it the less confident I feel about that

“Real” as in not staged

Agree, the more and more we learn about it the more obvious it becomes that this was likely staged.

Of course it’s real.

I accidentally posted a reply intended for 5 as a separate comment thread, so I deleted the original and retyped it, but there were no replies (that I could see at least) on it when I deleted it

What about it don’t you believe? Trump is one of the most hated, but best protected people on Earth, so it’s not hard to imagine that someone would try to kill him but fail.

For one, three “assassination attempts” in two years feels like it’s becoming a boy who cried wolf situation. Not saying that he isn’t controversial enough to be targeted but a judge blocking his plan to make the wh ballroom “unless it’s for real security reasons” then trump creating a situation to justify it for that it is just too coincidental

*or rather it’s too much of a funny coincidence that that’s why it was blocked then not too long after said reason for security measures happens

It’s also very suspicious that MAGA keeps on portraying the shooters as democrats and actively covers up any contradictory evidence. The political identity of the shooter shouldn’t be nearly as important as republicans make it out to be, and the fact that they flip out when evidence is presented and even try to suppress conversation when the shooter is found to be right-leaning is not a great look. That alone isn’t enough to explain staging, but it is good for thought.

Not for nothing, I get where you’re coming from but there’s a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to documenting threats/plots/ assassination attempts on Trump and they’ve been trying to kill him over and over again for the better part of 10 years now, there’s a real crazy one in there involving a forklift which is a fun read 😭 so 3 in 2 years isn’t really that extreme for him

That’s a fair point, but none of those were as highly publicized as the ones I’m referring to

Barack Obama also survived multiple assassination attempts, including a shooting outside the White House in 2011, but we don’t think about those much anymore because they happened a decade ago and the security breaches were not as severe, but all presidents have people that try to kill them

In any case, the alleged gunman at the corresponds dinner is in custody, so we will be able to hear his side of the story in the coming weeks

it’s staged in the sense that they likely intentionally let him get close. not that he’s like a paid operative or something.

the assassination attempts against Obama didn’t even make it out of the planning phase.

He didn’t get *that* close though. He only ran through the very first checkpoint and was stopped before even getting to the correct floor. Also, I don’t know what you personally believe, but I have read posts claiming that the gunman was a paid operative, so at least some people do believe that.

did you delete a comment? I remember responding to you in this post (different comment thread) about how this isn’t like related to the ballroom, but also an attempt to justify the weaponized NSPM-7, and how media like Fox News is already preparing their base via discussing the monitoring and imprisonment of certain individuals who hold specific ideological beliefs (such as anti-capitalist sentiment, anti-Christian sentiment, etc etc) where’d that whole other thread go
