Yikes. My mother with a phD and teaches college (education) is 100% a professional and it’s just offensive to her decades of hard work to say otherwise. And so many of these jobs require knowing a lot in order to do the job well, so it’s more than a slap in the face to people who pore their heart and soul into these jobs to have to hear “you’re not a professional”. Some of these jobs are LIFE SAVING.
I don’t disagree? What the doe considers a professional degree vs a graduate degree is lowkey pretty arbitrary. There’s only like 7 things on the professional list, one of which is theology? For some reason? But I think everyone agrees colloquially you’re a professional no matter what you do if you do it well. It’s just what’s regulated as professional is whack. I’m just correcting that this narrative is wrong. They weren’t removed, because they were never on the list
