it pains me sm to listen to rfk jr talk. not just bc hes a weirdo who knows nothing about public health, but because it sounds physically painful? he sounds like the lady from the anti smoking ad w a tracheotomy. it’s like theres gravel in his throat😭

In all seriousness I believe it’s because he was a heroin addict and maybe tried smoking it or sum

I mean I understand nuance so I’m not gonna cry that people are being mean to RFK jr but this is a weird line of attack. I have a stutter myself and wonder if people would be mocking people for stuttering if RFK jr had a stutter instead of whatever he has yk? Like why not focus on him being a fucking weirdo instead?

its not an attack and a stutter is a vastly different thing, as im sure you know. its commentary bc i was watching his testimony. im not even rlly attacking him tbh. if thats his voice thats what it is, id be curious to know why. but that doesn’t mean i cant say that his tone of voice sounds like hes got smthn stuck in his esophagus, that its the same tone as that lady in the commercial, and that it sounds painful. he could be aligned w my political beliefs and id still say it🤷🏾‍♀️

What is it then if not an attack? I mean I have a friend with a tracheotomy too, you think It’d be appropriate for me to tell him that I think it’s painful to hear him talk? Like he doesn’t know or something? Sure it’s medically different than a stutter but rhetorically it’s the same, they’re both some kinda speech impairment that the person has no control over

I mean you CAN say whatever you want, you could say that it’s painful to watch someone in a wheelchair try to go up stairs, but should you? And why would you?

“Curious” about someone’s condition isn’t the same as ‘it is painful to witness whatever you have going on’

Lmk if you have an answer to this, would love to know what I’ve apparently gotten wrong here. I honestly think y’all just dislike the dude enough that you don’t mind the double standard you use to address his condition as opposed to someone else with a medical condition that wasn’t a horrible person. If that’s the case just say that

In all seriousness should we tell all recovered heroin addicts that it’s painful to listen to them talk as op seems to suggest? Or just ones that we don’t like?

i was ignoring u bc ur making this into like an ableist thing when its not that at all. and thats the issue. you said in ur first comment that u understand nuance but then are arguing that theres some sort of double standard in play that applies to all conditions and disabilities. and thats not true. ur comparing apples and oranges and a blueberry and expecting that the opinion should remain constant for all of them. and thats just not how it works or how i think🤷🏾‍♀️

mind you, there is no confirmation of any sort of condition or disability related to his voice. at all. he could very well jsut sound like that. and just like id say chris pratt or mindy kaling who are able bodied to my knowledge has a voice that pains me to listen to, i say the same for rfk jr.
