This is why I don’t buy the “respect all troops/cops/etc.” I respect on an individual basis. Service is obviously a super respectable trait, but some who serve have less-respectable traits that overshadow their service, such as treasonousness

Obviously people did not volunteer to serve in Vietnam. I respect people who were drafted a hell of a lot more than people who volunteer.
