Why is it not controversial to have ID for buying alc but it is when taking part in deciding the entire country’s future 😭

Bc it’s a poll tax that would disenfranchise poor voters

because it’s trying to “solve” a problem that didn’t exist in the first place

I mean it is. But please do it. You all know this would make it impossible for a Republican to win right? Do it. Please.

That’s why it hasn’t passed under trumps presidency yet. People smarter than him, and smarter than you two, know that it’d be like instituting a literacy test. Yeah, you’ll get rid of all the black people. All the poor, undereducated ones. But with those poor uneducated people goes your ENTIRE base.

No they don’t. Government ID costs money. It isn’t free.

In my deeply conservative state it costs on average $16 which ain’t that much, I get that some people would have to save up (maybe a while) tho

requiring ID without providing it for free is a poll tax that hurts the poor, and in a systemically racist country like the U.S., racial minorities are overrepresented amongst the poor population due to structural disadvantages they face it’s not a racist assumption, it’s a fact

Well in mine getting a real ID costs 70. But even then, these folks are working two sometimes three jobs. Even if they have the extra money, they don’t always have the time. But again. Neither do the poor conservatives working three jobs. And they make up most of the Republican base. So do it.

not everyone has $16 + not everyone has the time to get / renew their ID

Especially poor uneducated conservatives. So please institute voter id. We’d have a socialist president in like a decade if they did that lmao.
