Echo chambers exist. Neither “side” is seeing all of what the “other side” is seeing. We need to make more of an effort to clearly and respectfully share information instead of condemning ppl who may not have access to the same information.

That would require collective self-awareness about selection bias. I’m pretty guilty of it. But when I’ve proffered facts and reason, I left myself open to be proven wrong. And some dude I cut ties with said he didn’t need to read any of what I sent to say that I’m wrong.

Also, just because one person is being unreasonable doesn’t mean other people who are willing to change their minds aren’t seeing the comments.

If you look at what right wing media figures are saying, its not super hard to see how they were fooled in my opinion. I just think we should blame politicians and media figures who knew what they were doing but not all the people who voted for him. Many were genuinely fooled because of how right wing people rationalized everything away

No rational person looks at the way trump is “explaining” things and actually believing it

I am not talking about Trump, I am talking about politicians and right wing media figures who are rational people who knew what they were doing. Why are you so resistant to believing that at least some of them had a real defensible reason to believe what they believed? Do you think people who get tricked by cults are all idiots??

Well that person is a rude person and I wouldn't keep trying to explain to him. I am just saying that there are rational people who are willing to understand and we should try not to dismiss the ones that are willing to have good faith convos

Yeah I wasn’t gonna continue contact with someone espousing Great Replacement and saying 90% of the arrests by ICE (back last July) were criminals.
