Question for ICE supporters; where do you draw the line? I work with someone who barely speaks any English (from MX), but he’s here because he fled the cartel since he was a Mexican SWAT officer. He’s a citizen, but I know ICE would interrogate him.

Out of curiosity, did he retire or was he targeted by the cartel while he was working for them too?

He did not work for the cartel, he was targeted because he was a police/SWAT officer that was part of a group who wasn’t bought/corrupted by the cartel. He only “retired” and came to the US because he couldn’t safely keep doing what he was doing.

Ok, makes sense. I was wondering if they target current SWAT members too (i.e. the Mexican government doesn’t protect them well enough) or if they tracked him down when he was a private citizen. I don’t support ICE btw, was just curious what the situation is for their forces that combat the cartels
