The defining characteristic of Christianity is that you cant get to heaven through good works (nobody’s perfect). Christians aren’t good people to avoid hell, so his whole point really makes no sense at all

That’s the Jewish view of morality. Since there’s no “Jewish afterlife”, it’s that Torah commands you to be a good person, so do it because it’s the right thing to do.

Is that really any different? Because good atheists don’t get punished for not being a good person, nor do they get rewarded for being a good person. They’re good people simply out of the goodness of their heart.

No, Churches that teach the bible are the only ones that matter. That answered number 12’s question, their church is probably teaching the wrong messaging if the preach the fear of hell rather than the reward of salvation.
