1. Reform the Controlled Substance Act. There’s no reason why pot and LSD are Schedule I alongside heroin and why Adderall is Schedule II alongside cocaine, meth, and fentanyl. 2. Focus on rehabilitation, breaking stigmas, and allow people to get help when they need it. 3. Safe injection sites to prevent death.

I think in an absolute utopia, taking drugs is everyone’s right to do what they want with their body. It’s your right to do whatever you want with your body so long as you are well informed, in sound state of mind, and it doesn’t hurt anybody else. But there would have to be very good systems in place for addiction recovery and preventing negative health impacts.

Idk how I feel about this question because so many people get addicted to prescription medications and turn to street drugs (esp in rural areas where I’m at) when they can no longer afford the cost of healthcare. I had a cousin OD at 15 because of laced pills. Evidence supports the effectiveness of methadone clinics and well-supported rehab. I just don’t know what we should/should not be strict on, which is I think the way a lot of people feel

IMO substances address some sort of problem or interest for people, so I don’t think they should be illegal, I just think we’ve slacked on how they’re regulated or circulated in communities and how we address drug problems and rehab. The amount of criminalization for possession of 🍃 baffles me. That being said, there are people who cut to earn more money selling and people who die because of it, which I think should be punished. Very intricate conversation

I don’t even think anyone should use caffeine but I voted that usage should be legalized.

What if there was a tax (cost * relative harm index) that went to non-profit rehab facilities.

The issues also stemmed from lack of regulation on pharmaceuticals. The Sackler Family/Perdue Pharma is largely responsible for the opioid crisis. They marketed OxyContin as an addiction-free pain reliever despite knowing the truth, aggressively pushed it to anyone for so much as a sore back, and funneled billions from Perdue Pharma and declared bankruptcy when caught. Then, they tried to start for-profit rehab clinics for the problem they started in the first place.

The only silver lining is that SCOTUS ruled that the Sacklers can’t use Perdue Pharma as a shield from liability (which is honestly an insanely unusual ruling with this SCOTUS)
