
Interestingly, I make a few distinctions here: Firstly, I differentiate between what I call the “Old Left” (I.e. the politics of the 19th and 20th centuries that theorists in Europe and Latin/South America were writing about) and the “New Left” (I.e. what we have in the United States today). The New Left, frankly, sucks and isn’t likely to win. The Old Left, however, could theoretically win again but that would actually require people to have intelligence and a backbone which they do not.
And I honestly used to try very hard to remain centrist/unaffiliated, not even all that long ago really. It just became a matter of morals, what I believed was right and wrong. I’d say much of what the right, especially the far right but the right in general, believes is what I would consider to be objectively morally wrong
