I would argue the presence and status of New Orleans, a blue island in the relatively small state, as being synonymous with Louisiana itself is enough of a reason alone to say it ain’t the conservative’s utopia. For that, I’d pick Oklahoma. Giant state with lots of small, rural agricultural areas with with one of the largest red leaning cities in the country.
Not for conservatives lol, if that’s what we’re measuring “best of the right” by. It doesn’t have high crime and low quality of education on the same level as Louisiana and is more uniformly conservative while having agricultural resource production that creates jobs and income. Pretty much their ideal for what they want for the country imo.
Aren’t you touchy lol, like I said I also live in a red area close to a blue city and the overwhelming majority of my local community is “stay the fuck away from it and if you’re from it, don’t come out here.” It doesn’t matter if the drug abuse rates or economy are relatively similar, or even if they’re better in a blue city, they’re not taking that into account over maintaining a political climate they like being in.
I’m not touchy I’m just real. You can make all the claims about your local community feeling a certain way, I’m sure you’re definitely the guy who can generalize the feelings of his entire town lol. But let’s be real. It’s worse there. The economy is worse. The drug issues are worse. This isn’t an anecdote, this is just reality man.
I mean, I work in my town’s local media and talk with a wide variety of people across the entire county I’m in on a daily basis, particularly covering issues relating to the economy and drug rates. In all my time doing so, the perspective I told you is absolutely the one most people hold here lol. People would rather work to improve standards in their red communities than just pick up and move to a blue one with higher standards already. That’s what’s “real” in my area at least.
If we are comparing cities by which rates are better, Oklahoma City has a significantly lower crime rate than New Orleans anyways while having the benefit for a conservative of being a red area. You could argue it’s more culturally dull for sure, and I would too, but I imagine if you asked your average conservative which place represents their values more they’d go with the former.
Tf do you mean “ruroid” lmao did you not just say you live in a read area next to a blue city as well? And I do have experience in those topics, actually, which is why I’m talking about it. You on the other hand just seem incredibly naive and like you wanna pick a fight over a topic you’re not well versed in lmao
There is absolutely a demographic that likes and wants what my town provides, which is a relatively stable small hub of agricultural jobs and commerce that is situated in the middle of a massively rural, conservative area. I know this might be hard for you to believe but there are people who like that and would prefer to live there over a blue city lmao, and that’s coming from a leftist who sees that perspective shared several times daily.
The problem with your point is that it’s not just that people are content living there, it’s often their only choice. Your point ignores that in major cities the cost of living is much, much higher and that is a huge point that drives people away from just picking everything up and moving out there. To bring it back to Oklaholma City, it’s one of the most affordable larger cities in the country, far more so than NOLA. It’s a major hub that manages to have the conservative small town-esque…
…benefits of affordability and an abundance of conservative culture. The whole point of this discussion is which red area is the representative of the “best of the right.” For conservatives, a place like Oklaholma City is representative of their values functioning on pretty much the highest level they can anywhere.
