The hospital I went to had a program that would adjust bills for applicants based on their income- I applied and thankfully they slashed my bill from $7k to about $700. It was a medically necessary procedure that originally was $27k but my insurance refused to cover anesthesia + some meds. I work two jobs but it’s just barely enough to get by so the program saved me! Unfortunately the program no longer exists at the hospital I went to because they did away with it when Trump got elected
