Tactical success seldom translates to strategic success. It’s way too early to know what’s going to happen but it’s not going to be a cake walk lest you fall for the same BS Americans did during Iraqi Freedom.

I never said it was a strategic success. I think it’s a foolish idea and we have bigger problems to focus on. I’m talking about the people who are so furious about Iran being humiliated, that they’re inventing a new reality to try and make it look like the U.S. is losing

Yeah I think that’s delusional but I’m also note holding my breath, I don’t think we’ve seen the entirety of the Iranian response just yet.

I mean what are they waiting for? Never once in history has a nation waited until their leadership was wiped out and primary defense capabilities obliterated before making their real defense, all that does is guarantee they’ll lose even more than they already were, on the small chance that their counterattack will be sufficient

I’m more worried about their asymmetric capabilities, which will take a longer time to exploit. Also notable is that their nuclear facilities were not hit, so it will be interesting to see the longstanding implications of that if they continue to maintain those facilities.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned is that an extremism government that feels backed into a corner will become desperate quick and that’s when they’re the most dangerous.

I have no doubt that we’ve seen everything, what blows my mind is people trying to paint this as something it isn’t. I despise Trump because I’m not a fucking idiot. But i also recognize reality, and it’s okay to admit that the results of his decision are working, even if the decision itself shouldn’t have been made

I mean you’re more than welcome to come to that conclusion, I don’t think it’s as clear cut as you’re making it.

And I heavily disagree with you that the results means his decision is working. But agree to disagree.

We won’t agree on everything, I know you’re a smart guy and it’s entirely possible I’m wrong in the long run. I do know, from a purely military perspective at this point, we’ve seen a resounding success compared to what I expected we’d see.

I mean I think we fundamentally have different perspective on how we’re approaching it too. For me, it’s super hard to divorce the purely military from the political/strategic or the present from the future since that was whole job in the past. But yeah I could see where you’re coming from if we focused on just what’s been happening so far.

So we aren’t necessarily wrong but who knows what’s gonna happen. We shall see 🤷‍♂️

I’m not even joking she was in my class and we started talking cause she saw me fucked up at the college bar on Halloween, I said “salam alaikum” in a wasted ass voice and she apparently decided that was endearing
