Saying there’s nothing wrong with it kind of avoids the issue of when this kind of perspective is used to justify decisions about individuals. I personally do that shit, I’m just innately more attracted to wasians, but I managed to vibe code my way into being a hiring manager, and if I choose a wasian girl over a white girl when there’s no difference in their resumes, that’s an issue.

For many reasons that’s an issue, but it’s still an example over preference towards my own people.

I used the wasian example because it pisses people off sometimes, probably because there are wasians in some places who legitimately only hang out with and date other wasians. I brought up my work because I wanted to frame it in a situation where acting on preferences is irrational. Although I do understand where you’re coming from cause re-reading that gave me a headache.

There’s nothing wrong with being aware of your preferences, but thinking there’s nothing wrong with that is a prerequisite to letting those preferences change how you act towards people on an individual basis. Not saying everyone’s doing that, just that you shouldn’t avoid thinking about it by telling yourself those preferences are completely valid
