The degree of violence of individual religions depends heavily on time and place and the individual political contexts. If we were plopped down in the 1500s during the Spanish conquest of America the most deaths and violence would probably be under Catholicism. But it might be different if we were during the Rashidun Caliphate or in a period of heightened Islamic fundamentalism like today.

It heavily depends on individual time period and political context which religions exist in a more radicalized and violent state or not. Because religion and politics cannot be separated from one another. We exist in a period where the west is under heightened secularism (and secularized violence) and the Middle East is in a period of fundamentalist backlash. But it’s different in other periods.
