That horrible OU “essay” is proof we are in dire need of atheist education

If her essay was written properly with legitimate sources she would’ve gotten a better grade. Instead, she had the writing skills of a middle schooler and failed to follow the instructions for an academic, college-level paper

That’s the other thing, she didn’t properly cite anything. Like that’s literally plagerism and you expect not to get a zero? In college?

Exactly. she got a 0 because the quality of her work deserved a 0. not bc she’s a christian conservative. They just love crying and playing the victim card

Nope. We shouldn’t and wouldn’t coddle flat earthers feelings by dancing around the true shape of the Earth in a science class. Atheist education.

Nope, it’s well established that gender describes the social constructs we ascribe to the sexes. Not about feelings it’s just correct.

gender is scientifically defined as: "a social and cultural construct that includes the roles, behaviors, and identities a society associates with being male or female" so it's actually not protecting anyone's feelings, facts don't care about your feelings :)

Gender isn’t a religious concept but a societal concept so that point doesn’t matter… but great work I can tell you’re acing your whataboutism class (clearly that’s the only one you’re passing too)

Christianity Bible stories aren’t facts babe. They’re under the mythology section of a book store for a reason. You wouldn’t put the hunger games in the history section

Exactly. You’re literally disproving your own point. Nobody knows if it’s true or not, and there is no way to prove it without some kind of bs circular reasoning. There’s a difference between that and proven, researched facts, like the well known and documented difference between biological sex and gender identity

That’s exactly what yall do with the Bible… there’s no evidence of any of it actually happening but you teach it like it’s the truth with facts backing it up anyways.

“Theory” in scientific terms means our fully evidence based model of a system. “The theory of gravity” ring a bell? You going deny that next?

I would say I don’t believe in any of it myself, but I have nothing against those who do believe in it. I think trying to use your religion as objective proof of anything is just about the most ridiculous thing you can do. The difference between the divine creation theory and the big bang is that the latter is evidenced by natural phenomena every day, it makes the most sense with the facts. The only “proof” of the former is a book written by some randos a couple thousand years ago

I mean it was technically something. All the mass in the universe condensed into a single point of infinite density, the only known “naked” singularity. Same concept as a black hole but without the whole event horizon and everything around it. The most likely theory imo is that the whole thing is a cycle, so with enough time everything will get sucked back into that single point and explode all over again, so it didn’t just come from nowhere either. Which is evidenced by the slowing expansion of

You can see the bones of these intermediate species and we can date them using physics!! It’s pretty fascinating stuff. You can do it yourself if you apply to the right research groups! :)

upvote 6 downvote

These “facts” are “verified” by literally millions of researchers across the world. Peaople have different scientific theories about what we don’t know, absolutely. But one of the hallmarks of science is if the results are replicable. If an independent researcher cannot come to the same conclusions as one scientist does using the same methods, then that idea comes into doubt. If, however, they can replicate it, then more and more people can rely on that scientific belief as more verify it

What you’re showcasing is a severe distrust of science, which is understandable. The line between science and politics is often muddled in popular media these days. I assure you though, the scientific method is made in a way that personal bias, belief, religion, etc do not impact results.
