I mean I’m not surprised. They don’t have enough applicants so they’re literally diverting people from every other DHS agency. People who work in cybersecurity are now working on deportations 💀 they had to lower the standards to get more people in. They had to waive the sit-up requirement 🤣
What if tomorrow your home was destroyed? Your government turns their back to you and you live in terror and poverty. So you leave your country to a land of opportunity, and when you arrive on shore, rather than being met with compassion and understanding. You are instead ridiculed for not being able to speak the local language. I’m sure you would feel very differently about immigration than if you were in their shoes.
You do realize some countries speak multiple languages right? Many places in Europe, despite being mostly Germanic or Slavic etc. speak multiple languages and different dialects depending on region. Maybe it’s disrespectful to not make an attempt to learn the language of your neighbors. Many European schools require students learn up to three or more languages other than their own.
“Literally everyone” from one clip is not enough to make an accurate presumption. Give me a chart with actual and maybe I’d be convinced. Also, Duo lingo can be used offline but only for a short amount of time since it would be going off downloaded lessons. However, this really doesn’t have anything to do with the argument because ICE which deals specifically with immigration should be able to speak multiple common languages like Spanish, Mandarin, or any other high frequency language.
Let’s go at this a different way: ICE not being able to effectively communicate with people who don’t speak English means that papers they signed agreeing to certain things could be effectively rendered void. Lawsuits could result if ICE didn’t properly notify people of their rights in a language they understand
