1. I think a lot of this is in the context of *american* Zionists, or right wing revisionist Zionists in Israel. A lot of Zionists historically were themselves socialists. 2. If you research, the USSR (and the broader eastern bloc) did a lot to mistreat Jewish people after the war, so that amplifies the sort of “people who left communist states tend to be very right wing” trend.

Romania, poland, and the USSR proper all mistreated their Jewish communities, partly out of general anti-religious attitudes, and partly because Zionism was associated with the west by that point.
