If they own the property they should be able to do whatever they want but if you chose to live somewhere with an HOA you're kind of begging for it like you knew there was gonna be one when you moved there. I will not be living anywhere with an HOA because I refuse to let someone tell me what to do with my fucking property.

The thing is that in Europe HOAs barely exist outside of condos and then it’s just the maintenance of common areas

Have you considered living in Germany? You can yell at people for crossing when there are no cars and call the cops on your neighbor for vacuuming on a Sunday. Sounds up your alley
