A dem victory in the midterms might just be the worst case scenario that nobody wants to think about. The executive will triple down on its illegal actions, there will be even more incidents like the one from today, it will not get better like we hope.

I don’t think this take is irrational, especially given that we KNOW Donald Trump and his supporters are already fond of claiming elections were rigged/illegitimate. The possibility that Trump sees a Democratic midterm victory in 2026 and just goes “oh well the votes were fake and we’re gonna investigate the votes” and then using the time spent “investigating” to crack down even harder is definitely non-zero.

Will this dissuade me from voting blue in the midterms? No. Is it a serious concern worthy of thought? I think so.
