People try to claim Israel only does its actions for “security reasons” and that Arab citizens are equal there. But if you read up, the Israeli government has for decades tried to reduce Arab fertility, force emigration, and divide their communities.

The government partly followed through with some of the actions of the Koenig Memorandum, namely systematically creating Jewish settlements between Arab villages in the Galilee by confiscating land owned by Arab Israelis. This was prominently done in an event known as Land Day.

Fertility rates have indeed declined among most arab Israelis since the 70s, meaning this perceived “demographic threat” is not talked about as much. It’s not gone completely however, as Netanyahu himself has stoked fears of a “demographic bomb,” catastrophizing about the results if Israel becomes more than 20% Arab.
