why do a lot of kids switch from conservative to liberal while going to college

Because they are no longer stuck inside the bubble that they grew up in. College exposed you to people from all different backgrounds and when you actually interact with these people you realize you have more in common with them than you are led to believe. Education throughout history has always had a liberal tilt. Progress comes through education

Two reasons. Conservative ideological positions are generally opposed to the consensus of most scientific and historical scholarship. If college teaches you about climate change, evolution, vaccination, or the realities of systemic racism, you’re less likely to align with the conservative denialist positions

Because when you’re in college you don’t have any money and want other people to buy things for you, the hallmark of liberalism

I grew up conservative and had wealthy parents who paid for my college (very thankful) and worked throughout and got a good savings account. I realized that conservatives just want control and liberals are a lott more kind and laid back. People dont become liberal because they want things handed to them, but I dont blame you for thinking that because thats exactly what I thought when I was younger
