What if we had government aid for people who struggle to afford funerals and burials? It seems so wrong to me that people leave bodies unclaimed or do a burial/cremation without a service because they don’t have enough money for anything else

Imagine already being in medical debt from a sick loved one, and when they succumb to their illness, finding out you have to pay $2,000 just to cremate their body and have it returned to you in a cardboard box. It just seems like unimaginable cruelty to me
