To my fellow leftists: By shaming converted MAGA (although correct in doing so) you are making them hate us more. We need to forgive. Forgiveness is a virtue and although difficult, it is the correct decision to accept them to prevent a divided nation.

I can still be mad at them and disappointed. They destroyed my future before my very eyes. All three of my academic disciplines have been targeted by this administration (Conservation Biology, Education, Museum Studies). My ability to safely birth a child I desperately want has been severely compromised. My mom lost her job with the Fed. I get it. It’s like being angry at a child that their childish behavior got a sibling injured or killed... But they’re adults. They NEED to know what they did.

The elites want us to be at each other’s throats what they fear the most is a united populus that sees through their lies.

Absolutely not. If they can flipped back so easily bc of shame and accountability then they never truly opposed of the MAGA crowd. Deep down they are completely okay with everything if one comment throws them right back into it

Most of the converted MAGA I know were victims of misinformation or lack thereof. There is a large section of evil people that support him, but do you have any idea how easily algorithms on social media adjust to a specific echochamber of viewpoints? It’s tribal instinct for people to follow the footsteps of those around them. Most people aren’t super invested into politics so they’ll vote for what everyone else is. If they were able to convert they finally exhibited critical thinking skills.

Yeah I’m not going to give anyone grace because of “misinformation” bc being ignorant isn’t an excuse. We are taught in school how to find reputable sources when research any information. There’s are a plethora of videos on out to find reputable sources and conduct proper research. There is absolutely no excuse if they have access to the internet. Your first mistake was mentioning social media algorithms. gtfo

Most people get their news on politics through social media. You’re assuming the average american isn’t a complete dumbass that’s super prone to manipulation. I’m saying forgiveness in this case is necessary to end with the tyranny going on in our current political economy. It’s the hard truth. I’m not trying to justify their actions, just that there’s no point in crying about it when all that does is keep the status quo. Change is what is needed currently and your mentality is preventing that.

Regardless of whether you want to forgive them, we don’t have a choice right now. We all have a common enemy.

yeah but a lot of people who don’t have a good education don’t know how to find or judge those sources. 43 million adults in the US are illiterate

Ignorance isn’t an excuse when people have access to the internet. At some point, personal responsibility matters. There are countless free resources, articles, and videos that explain how to do basic research and how to identify reputable sources. Choosing not to engage with those resources is a decision, not a limitation.

Citing a vague statistic about U.S. illiteracy doesn’t change that. Literacy exists on a spectrum, and lumping everyone together without distinguishing between functional illiteracy and low literacy skills is poor research in itself. Most adults with low literacy are still capable of consuming simplified content, videos, and explanations, especially on platforms designed to be accessible.

The elites want us divided” isn’t a get-out-of-accountability card. Unity doesn’t require pretending people didn’t support harm literally days ago. If criticism makes someone run back, they never actually left.

I’m not defending their actions. I’m just saying that when some of these people finally understand they’ve been indoctrinated they come to our side and are flat out rejected. All that does is make them seek validation elsewhere such as far-right spaces. Unity is what this country has always needed especially now.
