dude that’s my point. this strain specifically is not what you’re thinking of. hantavirus normally spreads in the way you think, but this is the Andes hantavirus; one that is specifically able to spread person to person. it spreads like a flu, with a 20-40% mortality rate

Yeah that’s been endemic to Argentinian pigmy rats, 5 people that got sick on a cruise ship aren’t going to spread a fucking disease that’s still incredibly rare to pass from human to human if not in constant close proximity

it’s not just on a cruise ship, it’s been documented to have external spread as well. There have been people allowed off the ship that resulted in the virus spreading outside of the ships containment zone.

do you not understand how long an incubation stage of 40 days is? they can go up to a month and more without any symptoms, while still being sick….
