Cashless is also more convenient, I have my bank account on me at all times and I don’t have to even think about going near the bank 99% of the time. I can use it online easily so I can spend money and find items in a wider range of places than just the area around where I live. That’s two purpose they serve other than tracking purchases. Using hyperbole devalues your argument by making it less true.

That's the point. Whether that's good or not is up for debate. Cash is a terrific way for ordinary people to evade taxes or pay for illegal or unregulated goods and services (as well as a way for employers to pay lower wages), and besides privacy cash's only actual benefit I can think of is ease of use for people with bad/no credit history. If society is okay with losing that and losing some element of privacy in exchange for combatting crime, so be it.
