I’d rather help my community directly than participate in a parade with no material demands

Any way to help your community is appreciated this weekend!! What are you going to do instead of protesting the people that keep voting to support a president that refuses to condone the guy that did things to kids?

it’s literally a state sanctioned “protest”, please be so fr. you’re not fighting anything by getting the cops permission to have a parade. if everyone attended the no kings protest and stayed in the streets for like a week, and didn’t make it a one day per few months thing, that would be different but there is barely any impact

The impact is showing your fellow American that you don’t agree with the actions of the administration. It builds unity and momentum towards the midterms, and political awareness

this is the issue. You’re only focusing on midterms, and not on developing a list of demands and standing ground until it’s met. this is why there are a bunch of people who identify as leftists validly critiquing the finances of these “protests”, as well as their motivation (especially while utilizing national databases for requested rsvps, in a time where the federal government is discussing the criminalization of dissent)

it should be building momentum towards a general strike, with longer and longer durations each protest/event, but the organizers are not interested in economic pressure (or really any direct pressure)
