That Iranian synagogue getting shelled by U.S.-Israeli strikes reminds me of Maghen Abraham Synagogue, the only one in Beirut, which was heavily damaged by Israeli bombing of the Wadi Abu Jamil Jewish neighborhood in 1982.

The synagogue had been partly damaged the week prior, when it was sheltering local Jewish and Muslim families. This led to it being evacuated before the more substantial bombing. Beirut’s already small Jewish community (~100 families) was scattered by the near-destruction of their neighborhood, and it is now only a handful of elderly people who have stayed.
