Tbh this is why I find the “it’s super young” argument extremely weak alongside the context of all the shitty stuff Israel does. Like there’s a lot of young countries out there, that’s not the problem. Though I suppose it’s important to know it’s young when people try to act like Israel has always existed.

The word doing the heavy lifting in my statement is relatively. Two and a half centuries is a lot of human development, but not a lot of time in the whole of recorded history. Think about the age of empire dying out in the 20th century and how many more countries are asserting their state sovereignty or gaining independence.
