Its a dangerous game but i like to consume as much right wing propaganda as possible so i can better understand the perspective of the people i argue against.

Be careful, and it’s important work, especially in deconstructing it later on!

There is no point in trying to understand the ramblings of a brainwashed population

I used to be on the left but the more “right wing propaganda” I consumed, the more I eventually realized how much of it was right wing truth

I’m in your boat and the only real thing I think the left is fighting a losing battle on is immigration. It’s just such a salient issue for so many people that not conceding at least a little bit is electorally kneecapping yourself

im sure its easier believe “me good and you bad” or “im smart and they’re dumb…. but i’d rather not sit on my ass complaining and shaking with rage while my country falls apart thank you!

it is hard at times but i hold onto two things, my search for truth and my white knuckle grip on my compassion for people no matter how different their background or how difficult to understand they may be

i think it depends if we’re talking liberals online, or elected democrats. i agree liberals online tend to give no leeway, but acting democrats are usually very moderate on border issues

That is a very cultish mindset that I would encourage you to reconsider

I think it’s the leftists online that give no leeway, but liberals are usually moderate on this. Elected dems are iffy (from moderate to conservative)

can u elaborate?

Stuff like “abolish borders”, “we can just let everyone in”, and criticism of deportations of people who have been found guilty of violent crimes

i havent seen any leftists saying that, imo leftists arent that vocal abt these things. they care more about anti establishment and anti capitalism, which ig could overlap but they dont speak in these specific ways u provided, i think those are liberals that do the feel good “its that easy to be nice” kind of statements iykwim

a lot of leftists believe in stuff like “nobody is illegal on stolen land” and the implication is we shouldn’t have a border

yeah but its tricky. i agree noone should be called illegal on stolen land, but i also support border control (cause without it there could be chaos for everyone involved). i think we just shouldnt demonize people for breaking a stupid law (that we admittedly still need)
