We let in plenty of immigrants who don’t want to assimilate and are only here to take advantage of our welfare. Most of them are fine and hard working, but we can’t ignore the fact that some are getting let in and don’t care about America. Also, there are workers rights issues with letting too many in because regular Americans will get out competed by immigrants who are willing to work long hours in dangerous working conditions. Corporations are more than happy to take advantage of this.

Assimilate means to respect our constitution and democracy, put American interests over foreign interests, communicate effectively with locals, and have a drive to improve the country. For example: there are countries that don’t believe in gender equality and gay rights. Do you want those people to come here and not respect western privileges?

Sure. But you said “infinite.” Now you’re saying “plenty.” Which is how many? Specifically? Americans have already lost the battle of worker’s rights. Most manufacturing got sent overseas because it’s so much cheaper. Migrant workers get paid a ridiculously paltry wage to harvest our crops. Lots of jobs available doing that work, or with meat-processing companies. Americans won’t work for that wage. They can’t afford to. This is the real fight. Workers vs. corporations.

Corporations will continue to have an advantage as long as immigrants outcompete Americans. Not blaming the immigrants themselves because they still get better lives and more opportunities by moving here. However, too many immigrants who are willing to work for lower wages lowers the standards for everyone because we are controlled by the market and employers will gain leverage.

I was obviously exaggerating by the infinite number, but what I mean by that is when governments fail to address current migrant issues in the country or blindly keep accepting immigrants without a mid to long term plan that preserves the current country’s standard of living.
