I mean yes and no. This has been posted a billion times so I’ll keep it brief but this is mostly a conservative dynamic, not a liberal one. Culture war issues wouldn’t exist if not for republicans fear mongering about lgbtq folks, minorities, and immigrants. When they attack those people the left has no choice but to take up the defense on the opposite side, and at that point they do sometimes use it as a distraction yes. Still, this is far from an equal blame type situation
