hot take: we learn history so we CAN make comparisons and parallels. you may feel icky bc someone is saying the us is on a path similar to what germany was on but that realization is exactly WHY we learn it in the first place

This is a false equivalency. It stands directly In opposition to what you’re claiming. History should be used as a way to learn and prevent repetition of horrific things, not as a way to incite violence by choosing the worst possible image in people’s minds. This is NOTHING and I meant NOTHING even comparable to the atrocities of ANY of thr axis powers and irs not even close. You all know that but say it regardless bc it has the most emotional impact

someone can identify the beginnings of manipulation, misinformation, and the spreading of a harmful rhetoric surrounding a targeted group of people by an executive body and say it is similar to the beginnings of those atrocities. the point is to identify it early (before it gets close to the holocaust) and stop it before it can build into something worse. hence why i said “comparisons,” “parallels,” and mainly “path,” specifying that the atrocities have not YET grown to that level but could

What manipulation, misinformation? And spreading harmful rhetoric has happened? There ARE violent illegal immigrants and they SHOULD be deported. They aren’t executing these people, they’re sending them home. To compare that AT ALL to the holocaust or running a slippery slope argument that doesn’t apply is insanity. There is absolutely 0 parallel to that in any conceivable way.
